Our mission is to strengthen and empower the youth of Philadelphia by providing financial literacy focused programming and access to financial resources. By partnering with industry professionals and the greater community, we hope to equip our community with the skills, information, and services needed to live a financially secure life.
According to the 2013 Consumer Financial Literacy Survey:
million U.S. adults do not have bank accounts
Or around 200,000 people is the deep-poverty rate in Philadelphia
The behaviors underlying this data suggest a severe lack of personal finance knowledge and skill.
This is where Banksgiving comes in. Painfully aware that many young people lack the necessary skills (and money) to make effective financial decisions, Banksgiving helps youth assess their knowledge, gain access to leading financial institutions and financial services representatives and learn skills that will empower and enable them to take a steadfast agency towards economic success.
